Journal #1: Introduction

Dear Reader, as a rather ambitious endeavor I have chosen to write, direct, and edit a short film for my independent project.
One of the more difficult goals I hope to achieve in my project will be present almost immediately when beginning my work. By the end of the writing section of my project I intend to have written a technically correct script that takes advantage of the many indications one can use in a script. For me the vast majority of this project is relatively foreign. I have written one small script in the past and have absolutely zero experience in film making. This results in my primary goal being to produce a film of quality and my fear to be that I am unable to produce something of my liking.
A lot to do with the quality of the film depends on my competency with filming and editing. I would really like to feel comfortable and efficient with my use of cinematic technique and aligning music with my film to give the film a feeling of truer completeness. Although I have no experience with creating a film I do tend to write on a regular basis and that mixed with an infatuation for film has pushed me to commit to this project and to be quite excited about doing so. Being able to write for much of my day and translate it to acting it out with many of my friends is something I will certainly cherish. I think it requires a subject of great interest to you to work with it for sixteen weeks and I have no doubts that I have found that subject.
